Yard of the Month Nomination Program
Yard of the Month Nomination Program
CYPRESS CREEK YARD OF THE MONTH PROGRAM
Spring is here, and it is time to think about the YARD OF THE MONTH PROGRAM. The purpose of this program is to recognize those neighbors who maintain their property and contribute to the overall beautification of Cypress Creek.
Each month, from April to October, a Yard of the Month award will be given to a Cypress Creek homeowner. The homeowner will be recognized on the Cypress Creek website and will receive the rotating Yard of the Month sign to be displayed in their front yard.
The volunteer Yard of the Month committee will chose a property that demonstrates uniqueness, beauty, and overall curb appeal, as well as consistency with the Cypress Creek Architectural Review committee guidelines.

The volunteer Yard of the Month committee will chose a property that demonstrates uniqueness, beauty, and overall curb appeal, as well as consistency with the Cypress Creek Architectural Review committee guidelines.
PROGRAM GUIDELINES:
- All properties in Cypress Creek are eligible.
- Homeowners may nominate their own yard or the yard of a neighbor.
- The duration of the award is for one calendar month.
- The same homeowner can win every other year.
- Five to seven committee members will judge the properties each month.
KEY EVALUATION CRITERIA INCLUDE:
- Visual Attractiveness: The yard should be visible from a public street and have general curb appeal.
- Aesthetics: Overall look of landscape (formal vs. informal, color and textures.) Plantings should be in scale with the surroundings.
- Creativity/Originality: Personal touches such as yard art, bird feeders, planters, hanging baskets etc.
- Specifics: Healthy lawn mowed and edged. Flower beds weeded and edged, flowers deadheaded and dead plants removed, shrubs and trees pruned.
The Yard of the Month Committee realizes that everyone does not have a “green thumb”; therefore a homeowner may also win the Yard of the Month by making extensive improvements to the curb appeal of their home.
All Nominations are to be submitted on or before the 17th of the month prior to the month of consideration. Submit nominations to Michelle Parker at mpteacher@charter.net
The program encourages all to be dedicated to improving the appearance of our community. Please help us recognize your neighbors or yourself with a nomination.
