Needle Felting - “Wooley Wicked Witch”

Make a scary witch for your Halloween decorations using only a needle and wool! This fun class is for beginner to intermediate felters ages 14 and up.  NO STRESS! Instructor will supply you and guide you step by step. Class fee is $35 for members ($45 non-members) plus $15 for all supplies including needle and wool. Please sign up by October 17, 2023

Youth Art Class “Yarn Pumpkins and Suncatcher”

 

Plan to get sticky with lots of glue with Sandy Waters as we create yarn pumpkins and beautiful suncatchers to mark the fall season.  These beautiful creations are fun to make and will last for years to come. $25 members, $35 non-members, plus $5 materials fee

Classes require a minimum of 3 students to be held, maximum of 10. Space is limited so sign up early to reserve your seat! Bring an apron or dress to get messy.  Ages 6 and up. Introduction to Acrylics 

 

Instructor: Athena A. Rhodes

 

Learn to paint with acrylics on canvas with three consecutive 2-hour sessions.  No Experience Necessary! Learn the basics or continue adding to your knowledge of acrylic painting. This class is for beginning/intermediate students 16 years old and over. Please register by October 22nd.  Class Fee is $75 for Members, $85 for Non-members plus a Materials fee of $25.  All paint, canvas and brushes supplied by instructor. Instructor will provide a color photo reference for students to paint from in class.

Youth Art Class “Create-a-Bowl!”

 

Using colorful scraps of fabric, students will layer pieces to create a sculptural masterpiece using their imaginations and learning a little bit about color compliments in their design.  Join instructor Sandy Waters to build these unique pieces that will be ready to use as a breadbasket on Thanksgiving! $25 members, $35 non-members, plus $5 materials fee. Students will learn about Cubism and the artist, Pablo Picasso with instructor Diane Greenhalgh. Students will choose from a variety of colorful items (paper, cardboard, paint, material scraps, buttons, etc.) to create their own quirky masterpieces! $25 members, $35 non-members, plus $5 materials fee. Youth Art Classes - Summer 2022

 

 

 

 Resident artist Diane Greenhalgh teaches fundamental drawing principles, painting and color theory for young artists ages 6 and up. Each month new projects will be offered to advance students’ skill and knowledge. Fee is $60 per 3-day session for members of the Isle of Wight Arts League, and $70 per 3-day session for non-members. Prior registration two days before first class is required. Students will complete a strung bangle, a spiral rope patterned bracelet, a 20” bead embroidered chain with focal bead and 3 pairs of earrings in four days of instruction. Projects will be worked with sterling silver findings and Czech and Japanese glass beads. Full course description and photos of projects are available to view on our website. This beginner level workshop is suitable for students ages 13 and up through adult. Each student will create a suncatcher and a small panel in class.

Meet and please welcome your new neighbors – The Dixons.

 

Your new neighbors at 1404 Cypress Creek Parkway are Rasheem & Kim Dixon.

 

They moved in on June 7 from Hampton, VA.

They work at Langley and Ferguson Enterprise.

 

Rasheem enjoys golf and basketball, Kim arts & crafts, wine tasting and brunch with friends.

 

Their children like watching Little Baby Bum, being outside and anything that sings or dances.

They moved in on May 7 from Suffolk, VA.

 

They enjoy golf and riding motorcycles.  Their children are interested in art, soccer, dance and graphic design.
They have 2 dogs and 1 cat.

The Fox reside at 1306 Cypress Creek Pkwy, and have come to Virginia from Sioux Falls, SD

 

Thomas works for Corteva and Alyssa works for Morgan Stanley

Members of the Community Events Committee would like to thank all the homeowners who decorated their houses and lawns for the holiday season.  It was really difficult to pick three houses, one in each category.

Please welcome the Williamson family to Cypress Creek

 

Jermaine and Jennifer have seven children. Jamocha 29, Jazmyne 27, Markus 24, Jermaine Jr 23, Markues 22, Markel 16 and Markuon 15.

 

The Williamsons moved here from Fort Lee, VA on August 31st 2020. Jermaine is still on active duty (30+years). Jennifer retired from the military in 2016 (22 years of service).

 

The Williamsons live at 201 Royal Dornoch.
